DISABLED CHILDREN CARE HOME

Project

Care home for children and young adults from 4 to 16 years old with disabilities who have either been abandoned or whose parents cannot look after them.

The founder and present director initiated the project 16 years ago with the objective of helping unprotected children. Now, the disabled home fosters 55 children and 9 staffs from many regions of Nepal.

Objective

The notion that disabled people have equal rights and duties as any other individual is largely absent in the minds of the people in Nepal, therefore these children have a double difficulty to succeed in this country.

The care home focuses on providing children with corrective surgery and the best available educational opportunities in order to prepare them for their future life, allowing them to have a sufficient basis in order to have a better understanding of the world, their society, and allowing them to have a future work and promising life.

Love, enthusiasm and a family atmosphere has been created due to the respect and mutual support of the staff and the children itself.

Your role

The volunteer work consists on the following:

  • Day to day Care House activities (clothes washing, meal preparation and any other thing needed at the time or suggested by the volunteers).

  • Helping staff members with the english language projects and providing English lessons to the children.

  • Helping the children with the school homework.

  • Organizing activities, sports, and preparation of educational and social lectures that will help the children have a solid base to face the future world (health, hygiene, personal and educational values, etc).
